The New Zealand Cooperatives Association brings together New Zealand's cooperative and mutual businesses in a not-for-profit incorporated society which provides support to its members, raises the profile of and awareness around cooperative and mutual enterprise, and promotes the cooperative business model.

The organisation started its life as the New Zealand Agricultural Cooperatives Association.

The aims of the New Zealand Cooperatives Association are to[1]:

Association structure

With an office in central Wellington, the Association employs an Executive Director and a part-time Communications Offier. A bookkeeper is employed two mornings a month, and volunteers come through Volunteer Wellington.

At each year’s annual general meeting, members elect a council to provide governance for the Association as well as a Chairperson who gives direction to the Executive Director.

As at November 2011, the NZ Cooperatives Association has 55 member businesses, with around half being agriculturally-based cooperatives.
